Our story began with boots, thermals and a neighbourhood store
Army Navy USA began as R & S Army Navy in 1979. When we first opened our doors, we sold merchandise straight from cartons. Customers came looking for boots, thermals, socks and whatever else they needed to prepare for winter—and the merchandise moved quickly.
Those practical needs shaped the business we continue to build: a family-owned and operated store offering work apparel, military and tactical gear, sporting goods and helpful service.
Growing with our customers
From cartons to the store next door
As demand grew for work apparel, military supplies and casual sports gear, we began to run out of room. We bought the store next door and expanded into the new space.
Building the business took years of work. Along the way, we established a strong presence in the community through the quality of our merchandise, personal service and reasonable, competitive prices.
2000
Taking Army Navy USA online
By 2000, e-commerce was becoming an important way to reach customers, and ArmyNavyUSA.com went live. The early website brought technical challenges and a few false starts before we developed a workable online store.
We steadily grew our web presence and moved to more advanced software. By 2005, the site offered more customer-friendly navigation, a cleaner layout and a growing audience. We also expanded beyond the United States by introducing international shipping and connected with customers through social media, including Facebook and Twitter.
Fast shipping, low prices and outstanding service became central to the experience we aimed to provide online, just as they were in our store.
July 2012
A new look and an easier shopping experience
In July 2012, we upgraded our website software again. The update introduced a new look, easier and friendlier navigation, and a wider variety of products to meet our customers’ needs.

After more than 40 years in business, we remain family-owned and operated. Our store is in Woodhaven, New York, a retail neighbourhood promoted by the Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation.
