This badge is awarded to soldiers and service members from any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces who successfully complete the U.S. Army Basic Airborne Course at Fort Benning, Georgia—the home of the Airborne.To earn the badge, candidates undergo a rigorous three-phase training program: the Ground Phase, the Tower Phase, and the Jump Phase. The course culminates in five qualifying parachute jumps, including both daytime and nighttime operations, with and without combat loads. Upon graduation, each paratrooper earns the right to wear this distinguished insignia, signifying their qualification to participate in airborne operations and their membership in one of the Army most respected communities.
